Thank you to all parents and carers who took the time to visit our spectacular art exhibition in the hall last Friday evening. Each year the standard of the work the children produce during art week seems to get better and better and this year was no exception. I am very grateful to Mrs Baker, who leads the art curriculum across the school, for her hard work in providing staff with lots of ideas and links to artists whose work fitted with their current class themes. Many of the children had their sketch books on display as part of the exhibition. We are working hard to encourage the children to experiment and develop their skills in these books and it is clear that they are beginning to do this effectively. Mrs Baker has a clear vision of how we can support the children to be imaginative and creative but also to help them develop the skills they need to execute their artistic ideas with greater proficiency i.e. colour mixing, shading in various ways, brush techniques and composition and perspective. Of course my thanks must also go to the children and the staff team who enjoyed their ‘arty’ week and produced such a range of fabulous work. Well done to all!!
