Welcome to the Nursery – Neverland Class
Our Nursery Class – Neverland – is staffed by an experienced teacher and Nursery Nurse daily. Mrs Nicola Wilcox is our Class Teacher and Mrs Sarah Manning is the Nursery Nurse. Nursery places are offered on the basis of 5 morning sessions per week. The Nursery is integrated into the life of the whole school, which gives good preparation for the move into Reception a year later.
The Nursery curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of the children as well as the requirements of the Foundation Stage Curriculum. Every child learns in different ways therefore teaching is carefully planned so that all are able to access the curriculum. Children participate in a balance of child initiated and adult led activities which take place both indoors and outdoors. The environment is organised to allow children to work on the floor, tabletops, individually and in small groups. The ‘Success for All’ programme provides the outline for the Nursery’s ‘Curiosity Corner’ Curriculum – a simple summary of this can be found here. The EYFS Long Term Plan for the year can be accessed here.
Our class newsletter provides more information about the curriculum the children will be studying this term. Please view this here. If you would like more information about the curriculum our school is following please ask the class teacher.
We teach the children the letters and sound syllabus (Phonics) through ‘Success For All’ in Early Years.
