Welcome to Reception – 100 Acre Wood Class

Our Class Teacher is Miss Moore. Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Hearnden and Mrs Markwood.

The children in the Foundation Stage learn through the following areas:

Prime Areas

  • Personal Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

Specific Areas

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

The children learn best through their play. Play is self initiated or planned enabling the children to experience the whole curriculum using the indoor and outdoor environments.

We teach the children the letters and sound syllabus (phonics) through the ‘Success for All’ reading programme in Reception.

Curriculum

The Reception curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of the children as well as the requirements of the Foundation Stage Curriculum. The ‘Success for All’ programme provides the outline for the Reception ‘Kinder Corner’ Curriculum – a simple summary of this can be found here.
