Last Monday, the children in Year 5 and 6 took part in the dissection of a pig’s heart during a visit by Dr Louise Beard and Dr Greg Brooks from the University of Essex. The children were fully engaged in this fascinating session, asking some excellent questions throughout. The activity has really enhanced the children’s learning as they were able to see the chambers and the vessels that we have been researching in books. Most of the children were keen to handle and investigate the hearts. They all behaved and acted maturely and sensibly, which was commented on by the visitors. Well done Years 5 & 6!
